The External Affairs Committee’s mission is to work with other schools, associations, and organizations from across the state and nation on pertinent student issues in order to build a student movement. The committee coordinates and develops the plans for students from UW-Madison to attend various conventions and conferences throughout the school year organized around student issues in the hopes that they will learn valuable skills to bring back to campus to help improve student life.
This year some of the issues that students across the state and nation are campaigning and organizing around are student debt, sexual assault and prevention and shared governance.
The committee is composed of any UW-Madison student who serves as leadership within United Council or USSA, the Legislative Affairs Chair, and the Vice-Chair of ASM, who serves as Chair of the committee. Additionally, any student may sit on this committee at any time.
