Library Committee
Committee Description:
The Library Committee is the advisory board, comprised of faculty, academic staff, and students, for policy and planning for libraries through the University including the general library system.
- Reviews and makes recommendations on long range planning for the university's library resources.
- Reviews the performance of the libraries in supporting and assisting scholarly activities.
- Monitors technical developments (such as automation or computerization) for the libraries.
- Consults with and advises appropriate administrative officers on library budget matters.
- Receives recommendations from departments and deans regarding the establishment, abolition or merger of libraries supported by university funds, and makes recommendations to the chancellor.
- Gives advice on the allocation of resources among major library units and services.
- Advises on the appointment of faculty members to search and screen committees for the senior administrative appointments in each major library unit.
