SAC GOVERNING BOARD INFORMATION

THE SAC GOVERNING BOARD APPLICATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, May 16th at 5PM.

PLEASE SUBMIT YOUR RESUME AND COVER LETTER TO JESSICA PAVLIC OR BRING IT UP TO ROOM 511 OF THE MEMORIAL UNION


Dear UW-Madison Students,

As you may know, a Student Activities Center will be on the 3rd and 4th floor of the new
University Square development project.  This space will be allocated to various student organizations to use as office and gathering space.

ASM is NOW accepting applications for the SAC Governing Board- which will be a standing committee who not only decide who gets space in this center, but develop and oversee a facility use policy of the center.  PLEASE CONSIDER BECOMING A MEMBER OF THIS GOVERNING BOARD!

Its an opportunity to make decisions that have lasting impact for this campus and for current and future student organizations!!  You are strongly encourage you to make your voice be heard and apply for a seat!  ALL YOU NEED IS TO BE A STUDENT- we would like both graduate and undergraduate representation.

Please find a copy of the position description, as well as an application in case you would like to apply.  The position description states what the duties and responsibilites of this position will
entail.

APPLICATIONS NEED TO EITHER BE TURNED or SENT INTO JESSICA PAVLIC BEFORE 5PM ON FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2008 AT 5PM- THEY MUST BE BROUGHT TO THE ASM OFFICE AND HANDED IN TO AN ASM STAFF MEMBER.  Applications materials include a cover letter and resume.

INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED! 

The process includes turning in your application, passing an interview by Nominations Board, and then Nominations will make their recommendations to Student Council who will then have the final say in who sits on the board.

PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD!!  THERE ARE CURRENTLY 5 OPEN SEATS!

Appointments to vacant seats on closed committees, the hiring of paid staff positions, and the selection of a variety of other ASM roles are administered by the ASM Nominations Board through a student-run application and interview process. 


The ASM Nominations Board is the human resources department of ASM and recruits for open positions, interviews candidates, and recommends hiring decisions for student staff, full-time staff, and at-large committee appointments.

Positions that are appointed or hired through the Nominations Board include the following:

  • Full-time staff
  • Student Justices
  • Diversity Liaisons
  • Vacant seats for Student Council
  • Open seats on SSFC and Finance Committee
  • Student hourly positions
  • Student Organization Center Coordinator
  • SSFC Legal Council
  • SSFC Accountability Liaison
  • Shared Governance Coordinator

Some of ASM's victories include getting College Library to stay open 24 hours a day, publishing professor course evaluations, convincing more bars to hold live-music entertainment events for the 18+ crowd, and making Halloween a safer holiday with sponsored activities.
