ASM Campus Safety Committee Meetings for Academic Year 2007-2008: Every Tuesday at 6:30PM in Memorial Union TITU
ASM Neighborhood Watch Program Coordinator: Jeff Bloomer, jbloomer@wisc.edu
Take back the night by volunteering for the ASM Neighborhood Watch Program on Fridays and Saturdays from 10PM to 12AM and 12AM to 2AM (more details below). ASM NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PROGRAM GOAL: The goal of the ASM Neighborhood Watch Program is to have student presence on and around campus during the later hours of the night. PURPOSE: Students voiced their opinions during Fall of 2006 by saying that they would like more people out on the streets later at night that were not necessarily police officers. ZONES: The ASM Neighborhood Watch Program spans three zones with six teams: Spring Street/College Court including Camp Randall Area (two teams) - South Side of Regent Street (two teams)
- South Side of State Street including West Washington Avenue and Mifflin Street (two teams)
PROCESS: The first 15 minutes of each shift will be designated to talking to the neighborhood police officer about the safety program and the roles and responsibilities of the volunteers. The neighborhood officer will also periodically check in with each team throughout the night and will be available by telephone. SUPPLIES: Students are outfitted with proper safety equipment including flashlights, reflective arm bands, vests, emergency contact cards, and t-shirts. DATES AND TIMES: Volunteers walk in two hour shifts (10PM to 12AM and 12AM to 2AM) every Friday and Saturday night. HOW TO VOLUNTEER: Sign up to volunteer for the ASM Neighborhood Watch Program! You can walk with your friends or meet new people while working to build a safer campus! To sign up to volunteer email Jeff Bloomer at jbloomer@wisc.edu.
