Jamie heard about ASM at the fall kickoff and quickly decided to run and get involved in his student government. He has been a freshman representative since the fall of 2008.
I'm proud of the improvements Student Council has made during this transition year. More personally, I'm proud of the ad-hoc Outreach committee I proposed. I ran on the platform that ASM has to actively try to reach out to all students and help us get more involved in our student government, and Outreach is actively working on that.
I'm part of two committees, Legislative Affairs and Outreach. Legislative Affairs lobbies state and local governments on issues that matter to UW students, like college affordability. Outreach committee's goal is to inform students about what our student government is working on and help students get involved. Currently we are organizing ASM events with student leaders and planning new ways to make ASM more accessible and responsive to students.
I'd say free Ian's pizza at the United Council meetings was pretty awesome. And the new SAC, that is a great place to hang out.
After graduation I'd like to join the Peace Corps and eventually work as a political reporter.
