ASM Foundation

Committee description:

The mission of the Associated Students of Madison Foundation is to support and advance the academic mission of the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as embody the spirit of the Associated Students of Madison. The ASM Foundation does this by providing non-traditional, active learning experiences to improve student participation, understanding and critical evaluation of student issues, and qaulity of student life. In doing so, the ASM Foundation supports and furthers the ideals expressed by the Wisconsin Idea, in the hope that students have a positive impact on our campus, across our state, and around the world.

Currently the ASM Foundation is in its first year of full operations and beginning work on two brand new initiatives. The first is a scholarship program called "Improving the Campus - Design Challenge and Scholarship" for which students are awarded a scholarship to provide action plans that address issues they see regarding student life here at UW-Madison. We are excited to develop and offer this scholarship to bolster and improve campus life. The second initiative is unofficially named the "Associated Alumni of Madison" project in which the Foundation is beginning to reconnect with past ASM alumni. By doing so, we hope to provide training resources to students across campus from professionals that had a vested interest in the betterment of campus as well as reconnect these alumni in support of the ideals of Shared Governance.

Involvement in the ASM Foundation at this stage in its development will be an exciting opportunity to add to any student's Wisconsin Experience. Being that the Foundation is in its beginnings, appointees' influence on the future of the ASM Foundation will be profound. Also, the board constitutes a unique interaction between a wide array of professionals and students in a non-profit setting.
