about SSFC

ASM has a separate committee, called the Student Services Finance committee (SSFC), that manages the allocation of segregated fees.  These fees, which total about $856/year per student, consist of two parts: allocable and non-allocable.  79% of student funds go to non-allocable fees, which pay for  buildings such as the Union, the SERF, the natatorium, and UHS to name a few.  The other 21% of money paid by students goes into a pool called the General Student Services Fund (GSSF).  This fund pays for GUTS, ALPS, MCSC, and other service-based organizations that provide a direct service to students.  This fund provides money for ASM's budget as well.  Half of ASM's budget is applied toward event and travel grants for student organizations on campus.  The Finance committee, another committee of ASM, decides how much money to give student organizations, and the SSFC manages the funds.

A new budget of ASM makes it possible for students with disabilities to attend events put on by student organizations.  In the past, a fund only helped disabled students get to and from classes and ignored the social aspect of college.  With this additional fund, these students can enjoy another side of college that most people take for granted.  If you are interested in getting involved with the SSFC or Finance committee, contact the chairs whose information can be found under each committee's tab on the home page.
