Subsection 7.01 - Staff
7.01(1)-
Under Article XI of the Constitution, staff shall be defined as those compensated individuals who are not members, ex-officio or otherwise, of the Student Council, its committees, SSFC or Student Judiciary.7.01(2)-
When a newly compensated position is created, the Nominations Chair shall decide if the individual is to be considered staff under Article XI or as a student leader. Compensated positions not held by ASM members shall be determined to be staff. The decision of the Nominations Chair shall stand unless the Student Council acts on the question, in which case, the Student Council decision shall stand.7.01(3)-
The Chair and Vice Chair of Student Council may negotiate with an outside organization for the provision of staff positions not directly hired through the Internal Budget. No contract for such services shall be effective or binding unless it is ratified by a simple majority of Student Council. The Internal Budget must reflect any contract entered into under this subsection.
Subsection 7.02 - Search and Screens
7.02(1)- Definition:
The Search and Screen process is used to hire paid employees of the ASM, including Diversity Liaisons, permanent staff and the Course Evaluations student hourly position.7.02(2)-
This process is to be conducted in closed session and records are to be kept confidential in order to protect the privacy of the applicants. The application and posted agenda should note the closed nature of the process.7.02(3)-
Applicants shall fill out a written application form and undergo a personal interview. Nominations Board may get written applications before conducting interviews.7.02(4)-
The Nominations Board shall follow standard impartial hiring procedures, specifically avoiding questions of race, creed, and political ideology, etcetera in accordance with the Constitution, state law and UW hiring policy.7.02(5)-
The Nominations Board shall determine criteria before reading applications or interviewing candidates.7.02(6)-
The Diversity chair(s) shall sit on the hiring board for the diversity liaisons and have the decision-making power equivalent to that of a single Nominations Board member.
